The Triffids are coming – Sneak Previews and other goodies inside!
The BBC is airing a new version of the classic apocalyptic tale The Day of the Triffids in the UK as part of their Christmas line up. The show will be in two parts starting 28th December so you can enjoy the show whilst gorging on your left over turkey sandwiches!
For the uninitiated The Day of the Triffids is a post-apocalyptic novel (which by the way has made our top ten PA book list,) that has been dramatised a few times in the past, most notably by the BBC in 1981. Well the Beeb are at it again and this time it’s going to be bigger, better and judging by the all star line up it isn’t going to disappoint.

Summary:
After a solar event the worlds population looses their sight and if that wasn’t bad enough a plant mutation also creates giant moblie flesh eating plants! As corny and laughable as the plot might sound the story is very well put together and the ridiculousness of the situation is stated many times throughout the narrative. Which helps to create a believable and outstandingly realistic plot that draws you into what is quite a unique and dramatic story.

I’m sorry but there’s no information about a US release at the moment, but I’m sure it will be coming to BBC America at some point, as soon as details are available I’ll post them on the site.
