Post-Apocalyptic movie ‘After Earth’ is set to transform the Costa Rican Film Industry
It’s only the third day of filming for M. Night Shyamalan’s After Earth which will see Will Smith and son Jaden crash land on an ‘alien planet’ and already the sight of both Shyamalan and the Smith’s has sent ripples of excitement throughout the country. Having Hollywood royalty on their doorstep is expected to give a much needed boost to the local economy and has already proved beneficial to the local film industry, which is reaping the benefits of Hollywood investment, the likes of which haven’t been seen there since the filming of Jurasic Park.
As anyone who’s followed the development of the movie will tell you, this film is going to be epic and it’s nice to see that some of its huge budget is having a positive impact on the lives of people in Costa Rica.
And for those that maybe doubtful of the project after Shyamalan’s recent efforts, it’s worth noting that the script has been jointly written by acclaimed writer Gary Whitta (Book of Eli) and judging from what was lacking in the directors previous movies, having Whitta on board should have a major impact on the finished product.
