After a killer virus is released from a government Lab almost all of America’s population is wiped out.
The few survivors immune to the virus journey across the country to a small town in the mid west. But their hope of rebuilding civilisation is shattered as it soon becomes apparent that their fight for survival is only just beginning.
A tale of good against evil this is one of the best Stephen King stories to be translated onto the small screen. Being in the format of a mini series rather than a feature film it allowed time for an even greater development of the characters and the story. Stephen King also has small role in this.

I'm sure hardcore Stephen King fans or budding actors will complain about the plot details, producers trimmings or wooden acting.
It deserves high scores on both accounts since this was a 1990's heavily censored primetime show.
When 2013 comes around "The Gunslinger" will appear here… to much more decisive P.A rants
This film is an absolutely great collection of character studies along with the perfect story. Very good filming for a low budget, mid-90s, TV miniseries. Incredible acting by Ruby Dee, Gary Sinise, Ed Harris, Kathy Bates, Adam Storke, Ossie Davis, Miguel Ferrer, Jamey Sheridan and the ravens (actually crows). Also, the soundtrack was top-notch.
I only wish the movie was at least twice as long…I wanted more, much more! Six hours wasn't nearly enough.
I'm looking forward to the major motion picture trilogy beginning in 2013 (hopefully)…but there's no way they'll find equals to Ruby Dee and Gary Sinise. Quote
