In this apocalyptic movie from M. Night Shyamalan writer and director of Unbreakable and The Sixth Sense, the forces of nature turn deadly creating an unstoppable event that threatens to destroy the world’s population.
People walking through Central Park suddenly come to a standstill and begin to kill themselves using any method they can find, at a building site close by the construction workers throw themselves off the scaffold and begin to rain down onto the pavement below. News of the tragedy travels fast and speculation begins as to whether this has been a terrorist attack as the event begins to spread across the state and throughout the country continuing to make its victims suicidal.
High school science teacher Elliot Moore (mark Walberg) tries to get his wife and a friend’s daughter to safety whilst using his theorizing to aid them in escaping the effects of the event.
This movie is definitely worth a watch, when it works it works well; the opening scenes for example are dazzling and leaves you in anticipation of what should be a great movie, but unfortunately that greatness never really materialises, and the dire dialogue makes the film almost cringe worthy in parts, even the actors look uncomfortable whilst delivering what must be some of the cheesiest lines in recent movie history. Which is a shame because the overall concept and feel of the movie is good, it just feels like a little tweaking in the script could have turned this from an average movie into something special. However that being said this is by no means a terrible movie, overall despite its flaws it's an entertaining film.
