When an alien spaceship arrives and lands in Washington D.C. the military are called in to secure the area and prepare for what could be a hostile encounter. The crafts occupant (Klaatu) and his menacing robot Gort emerge to chaos and confusion. Klaatu is shot by a nervous soldier while he tries to convey his wish to speak to the world’s leaders. After being taken to hospital Klaatu decides to escape in order to learn more about humanity and to ultimately deliver his message that could decide the fate of the planet.
