Ambitious all action remake of the 1950s classic sci-fi movie Keanu Reeves plays alien visitor Klaatu, whose arrival on the planet sets in motion an apocalyptic series of events which could spell the end for humanity. In a race against time a young woman and her stepchild are the only hope of convincing Klaatu that the human race is worth saving from the impending destruction.
Fans of the original will be disappointed by this lacklustre remake which strays too far away from the original concept. But as a film in its own right it’s a very watchable and entertaining sci-fi action movie, however the updated special effects don’t make up for its obvious flaws in both the script and story.

Hollywood libs never change.
According to Gore, that makes this movie cover racism and I'm not talking about the mixed race between the step mom and the forced acting of the step son either.
Why the writers didn't just make Bates the prez is beyond me…her "following orders" throughout the slow action picture is just stupid…Reeves wood faced acting is his usual fare.
At times, one can't help but see what else is on the other channels…the movies limps along its cliche story with absolutely no surprises except for the poor acting of the step son (not to mention bizarre actions).
That fact that anybody made any money off this movie is simply a crime without anyone being held accountable…much like many of today's politicians. Quote
