Global warming causes catastrophe as the shift in the Earths delicate balance creates extreme weather conditions across the world.

 

Fearing these early signs are only the beginning, scientist Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid) tries to warn politicians of the impending disaster and the possibility of a coming new Ice Age. As his nightmare prediction becomes reality he must also find his son (Jake Gyllenhaal) who is trapped in New York.
