When an American satellite crash lands in a small dessert town the army is called in to investigate. Unfortunately, the device is carrying more than the government bargained for. It turns out an unknown virus that kills people almost instantly, was living within the depths of the contraption. When the towns people open the device out of curiosity it kills everyone in the small town and unleashes a doomsday virus that kills every living thing in its path. It is up to a select group of government scientists to create something, anything to stop the destructive path that the virus is on. Humanities very existence lies in the hands of these scientific masterminds, the best of the best.

This is a great miniseries, although it is different from the 1971 film and the novel written by Michael Crichton. The series ran on A&E for several weeks and can be found repeating on the station periodically or at most places that sell DVD or Blu Ray. The series is definitely worth your time to watch but it does have some down falls such as dated CGI and some plot holes. It wasn’t one of my favorite films but, it was enjoyable enough to purchase and I have watched it more than once. The beginning of the series is quite enjoyable but it gets kind of bizarre towards the end.
