A bitter war rages in the future between man and machine. In an attempt to wipe out the leader of the resistance John Connor, the machines send a terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) back in time to kill his mother Sarah before he is born. However the rebels also send back Kyle Reese a soldier from the future to protect Sarah and ensure the future of mankind and their victory in the battle against the machines.
