Kate and Martin revisit a remote island retreat in the hopes of rebuilding their lives after a personal tragedy. After spending some time there the couple still have barely reconciled their emotions before an injured soldier is washed ashore. The couple return the unconscious man to their cabin and when he awakens are shocked by his revelations about how he came to be there. He tells them that a deadly virus originating in South America has spread around the globe and now infected Europe. Fearing the possibility of infected strangers arriving and trying to seek refuge, the soldier quickly takes charge and begins barricading the building against any possible intrusions while insisting that they do not go outside. However his manner soon becomes arrogant and paranoid leading the couple to question his motives.

Review:
Just a quick warning before I get any complaints! This is not a typical PA movie there are no images of the infected dying in the streets, in fact there are no images of the infected at all! As the viewer’s just like the couple in the movie are unsure of what is really going on until right at the very end, where an outer limits style twist occurs and all is revealed (anyone who’s watched the outer limits will know what to expect!) I actually didn’t know about this before watching the film and so it added to the suspense. So if you do want to watch it, avoid any spoiler reviews.

Overall this movie kept me entertained which I must admit was helped greatly by having quality actors in the lead roles, I think I may have lost interest otherwise as their performances made up for the obvious weaknesses both in the script and continuity of the movie, as the film really didn’t flow as well as it could have.

I would recommend this to fans of thriller movies. The feel of the film is very similar to a movie called Dead Calm, so if you enjoyed that I’d say give this a go, otherwise watch it on a rainy day when there’s nothing else worth watching and you might be pleasantly surprised, I was.
