After a disease infects all cereal crops around the planet the world is plunged into starvation and anarchy.
This Film takes place in jolly old England and puts a spin on the plague post apocalyptic movie. The world has been plagued by a virus that kills grass including plants such as wheat and rice. It seems to have originated in China and spreads its way towards the eastern world. The political motivation behind the movie is to show that no matter how civilized a country you might live in, when a population is faced with extermination that man will revert to his most basic instinct, to stay alive. The movie curtails the struggles of a middle class family as they make their way to safe haven from London to England.
______________________________________________________________________
This is a great movie with a political message towards governments to respect the environment and to show that when humans are presented with termination that many will react in a manner to kill or be killed or eat or be eaten. The movie was made in 1970 so it is starting to show its age now but, it is like the film Threads in some ways and really makes you think. The film was adapted from the book of the same name (also called “The Death of Grass” in North America). From both watching the movie and reading the book I felt the story line in the film was better and that it explained more of what is happening. Both the book and the film are must haves for the serious PA enthusiast.

I haven't personally ordered anything off this site, because its costly to ship to canada but check it out and see if you can get it. http://www.cinema-de-bizarre.com/catalog/item/4801993/5954962.htm I found it on VHS at a local video store that was going out of business but its not easy to find and the book is even harder to get.
