Lifeforce is a kind of hybrid Zombie/Vampire movie that’s directed by Tobe Hooper director of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Poltergeist. The screenplay for the movie was also written by the co-writer of Alien Dan O'Bannon.

A group of astronauts sent to explore Halley’s Comet discover more than they bargained for when they encounter an alien spacecraft. Long overdue from their mission the ground team expect the worse. And this is realised when they enter the space shuttle to find that it has been burnt out. However with all the crew now dead or missing three bodies are found perfectly preserved in glass coffins. It’s not long after placing them in quarantine that all hell breaks loose when they escape, revealing themselves to be vampire like beings that feed on the life force of humans. And when their victims also begin turning into life force sucking vampires the situation soon begins spiralling out of control. Resulting in chaos and anarchy as the population and even the government is overrun, leaving the military with no option but to consider using nuclear missiles to wipe out the whole of London.

 

I really enjoyed this movie, but I must admit you’ll probably either love it or hate it. I think most people can’t get past the fact that the aliens are naked, which can be slightly distracting I suppose! However that aside this film has got everything a fan of the genre could ask for, and also has a unique twist on the vampire theme. If you’ve not seen it definitely give it a watch.
