Plot:

After a time capsule is unearthed at a school, a young students father professor John Koestler (Nicolas Cage,) becomes convinced that a strange series of numbers wrote by a student over 50 years ago are coded predictions of the future.

Working through the code he begins to match them against major disasters that have occurred in the past, however his suspicions become a chilling reality when he witnesses a predicted disaster as it occurs. In a race against time he must now decipher the meaning behind the final numbers of the code before the last event on the list occurs, which could well mean the destruction of the Earth and the end of all life on the planet.

This is quite an entertaining film, it does have a bit of a slow start but then quickly turns into a much faster paced movie that’s got a nice little twist at the end. Overall it's a good sci-fi action movie with a story that keeps you entertained right up to its chilling conclusion.

0 #1 s 2009-08-14 08:34 I didn't really like it all that much as I watched it. A few religious overtones I found to be cliche. Nicolas cage was a little hard to swallow as a drunk. The plot weaved and wobbled. Music was good but was a higher caliber than the emotions displayed by the actors - both only converging at the end. However I was intrigued by the kid immediately, as he was so different from how we portray are youth today. The end did have a nice 'twist' it's a classic sort of ending but you don't expect it - at all. It has stuck with me oddly, because in some ways its was a little disturbing - I really didn't expect the movie to go there. I have to say in the end I rather enjoyed it, and why not? It was the first time to my knowledge (Accept for Deep Impact) that an accurate catastrophic event was portrayed in a feature film that humans could NOT miraculously solve. Quote
