The earths' condition is very cyclical but the problem is not that the cycle is continuing. The problem is that we've changed the concentrations of a fragile solution that make up our atmosphere; something that's never been seen before by any point of history. So we don't really know what to expect. If we could all go on living just fine on a warmer planet I couldn't care less about CO2 emissions but that's just not so unfortunately. There are also other emissions that aren't commonly discussed such as methane from the ridiculous number of cows on the planet relative to prehistoric numbers, and how we now feed them makes a huge difference. At times a third of the earth was covered in ice, then it would melt, wiping out species as the pendulum swung back and forth. The Earth's history is a violent one, with a number of mass extinction events, life bounced back, unstoppable. Asteroids, super volcanoes, mile thick ice sheets, earthquakes, life continued and evolved. Maybe "our" world is in danger but I do not fear for the Earth, it is a violent beast that on occasion gives life on it a brief respite.
