A group of military and scientific personnel are holed up in an underground bunker after the planet has been overrun by zombies. With the scientists trying to find an answer and the military just looking to kill every flesh eater in sight, the conflict of interests means the undead aren't the only threat to their survival.
Review:
The third part of George Romero's Living Dead trilogy, Day of the Dead is definitely one of the most underrated zombie films out there. The idea is simple, but the characters and plot are more complex than most zombie movies. The claustrophobic nature of the bunker and the differing ideologies of the characters means that tension is always there, even when there's no immediate zombie threat. Having said all that, when the zombie's are on-screen there's plenty of scares and more than enough gore to keep every zombie fan happy. Bodies ripped apart, flesh being torn for limbs, flesh eating...its all there and packs quite a punch. The parts with the doctor trying to teach the zombie (aptly named 'Bud') are also a nice added touch, both amusing and engaging. All in all its probably the weakest of the dead trilogy but still well above 90% of the zombie movies that are out there. Highly recommended.

It suffered from over-acting, and unrealistic actions (eg. military characters commenting that they're running out of ammo but blasting excessive rounds on full auto etc.) I found the scientific plot angle to be weak and gimmicky. They could have done a lot with that.
If you're looking for a cheesy zombie flick with some good 'tearing people apart' scenes and don't care about what I mentioned in the first paragraph, you'll probably like this one. Quote
