Cargo is set in a bleak future where the Earth's surface is now uninhabitable and mankind is forced to live in orbit on overcrowded spaceships. Their only hope is that one day they will get to re-locate to a distant paradise on a planet called Rhea. In the hope of making enough money to reach Rhea a young woman takes a job on a deep space cargo vessel as the ship’s doctor. While the rest of the crew are in hyper sleep she discovers that they might not be the only inhabitants of the ship. However what begins as a hunt for a possible stow away ends in a revelation that could change mankind’s future forever.
Review:
Well I love me some sci-fi and this movie certainly relieved my inner geeks need for some deep space thrills. I was actually overwhelmed by how good this movie was, I mean for the budget involved here the look and feel of the movie was nothing short of outstanding. And the storyline and dialogue more than matched the visuals. The atmosphere of the film is reminiscent of Alien; it's very oppressive and claustrophobic and just adds to the general ambience of the movie, which is quite bleak. The only negative really is that the twist at the end is very predictable but that doesn’t detract from what is a great ride to get there. I would highly recommend this little Swiss gem, especially to sci-fi fans that may have overlooked it.
