+1 #1 Bod 2011-06-24 15:40 This movie promised everything, delivered nothing. The plot description and even the trailers reflected this. Total hype. This movie was more like a corporate special effects demonstration. There is absoultely no backbone to the story, the writing, dialect and screenplay are all horrendously cheesy. It tried to follow cloverfields example but failed. At times some of the lines in this make you cringe, they are that bad. There are a million movies like it, equally
forgettable and equally copycat. In some ways I actually thought the dreadful skyline (released the same year) was better. At least that had characters which weren't as two dimensional and it featured thought out concepts . Looks great but proves once again eye candy is not enough.

-1 #2 Mio 2011-07-24 13:49 I bought this from the supermarket (they sell new releases quite cheap there you know) because I wanted something vfx-tastic to watch on our new BluRay player. I'm broke so the £12.99 was quite a risk.

Unfortunately for me and my £12.99 the film was quite shit. They delivered on effects and sound design, but if you're expecting a plot and characterisatio n, you'll be sorely disappointed. I actually forgot what was going on at several points in the film, mainly because I didn't care.

If effects count for 50% of the stars in the star bar I'd give it 5… but I love effects so I give it 6. It's still shit though.

-1 #3 numness 2012-02-29 05:43 the movie felt like it dragged on a bit too long, when you passed the climax, or you thought you had, the movie takes you for another turn, one needed, but with the tired acting and tired one liners, it got me looking for my copy of Independence Day.

6/10
