Matt Reeves set to direct apocalyptic vampire movie The Passage
Matt Reeves the director of Cloverfield is set to develop and direct a movie adaptation of the hugely successful and highly acclaimed apocalyptic vampire novel The Passage by Justin Cronin. Ridley Scott has also signed up to produce the movie.
The plot is quite similar to I Am Legend, in that it’s a cancer cure that causes a mutation in humans, ultimately it leads to terminally ill patients turning into telepathic vampires that eventually go on to infect the rest of humanity.
It’s actually an amazing book, however with a scarily similar premise to past let downs I Am Legend and Daybreakers only time will tell if this one will successfully translate onto the big screen. Saying that, I’m a huge fan of Reeves work, Cloverfield was a standout movie in its year of release as was his latest film Let Me In, so I’m expecting great things from this project.

I’m definitely looking forward to this! I was actually telling myself the other day, that if someone didn’t make this into a film, I would someday! I guess I don’t have to worry about that anymore.
Leave the book alone. Its good as a book. A movie will NEVER do justice to this amazingly detailed book. NEVER. stop ruining good books with crappy movies based on them.
Huh, never heard of the book. Definitely adding it to my queue. However, I have to slightly disagree. I ready I Am Legend and loved it. But I also really liked the movie adaptation, even though it was so wildly different.
Still, it will be odd to have another movie with such a similar premise. But who cares, I’m still there!
I was just thinking the other day I wonder if they’ll do a movie on this and if so, how can they possibly tell Amy’s story and leave time for the rest of the book? It’s a lot of detail from each character to sum up in on movie. I am almost finished the book and I love it. Even if the movie isn’t as good as the book at least I read the book and enjoyed it. Good luck trying to make the movie as amazing!
