‘Iron Sky’ to get a US theatrical release!

The upcoming Nazi-apocalypse movie Iron Sky (details below) was previously only confirmed for release in the UK and Europe, however after an overwhelming amount of online interest the US distribution company Entertainment One has now finalized a deal that will see the independent film get a theatrical release across North America.

The amount of interest this movie has generated so far is astonishing, the trailer alone received 5 million hits in the first six days of release and you only have to take a look at the films Facebook page to get a sample of the excitement surrounding the movie.

The Director Timo Vuorensola had this to say about the staggering amount of support for the film,

“It feels great to beat these films that have already spent more on marketing than the entire budget of Iron Sky. I see it as a sign of democratisation of entertainment, where the internet means a Finnish film can capture the interest of the viewing public. This is a victory to all European and independent filmmakers, and it’s all thanks to our active online community”

He also went on to say this about the movies positive reception during its airing in Berlin this last week,

“Iron Sky is for sure an audience film; we’ve been ending every screening here in Berlin with huge ovations, and the theatres are packed.”

Judging by the audience’s reactions in Berlin it seems this is a movie more than deserving of the online hype.

We’ll let you know as soon as a US release date is confirmed.
