First Shot of Spielberg and TNT’s Alien Invasion TV Series

For those that don’t know, TNT has signed up for an initial 10 episodes of Steven Spielberg’s as yet untitled alien invasion series. The series which is currently being filmed stars Noah Wyle (ER) alongside Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation) and is written by Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan.) You can view a larger image of the first shot from the show below.

The series will follow a group of survivors after an apocalyptic alien invasion, who band together to form a rebellion against the otherworldly invaders.

Spielberg has an obvious fascination with aliens, as his previous film and TV work demonstrates. It’s also worth noting that his 2002 series Taken became a huge hit for the sci-fi channel and I have no doubt this new one will have the same effect on TNT’s ratings.

In a recent press release TNT’s executive vice president Michael Wright said of the show, “This series has the potential to be one of the most exciting and provocative shows on television,” Wright went on to say,

“It grabs your heart and mind from the start and doesn’t let go. It combines personal human drama with dynamic action to create the kind of series people will be talking about the morning after. We are especially thrilled to be working once again with Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks Television, as well as Noah Wyle and the extremely talented cast of veterans and newcomers around him.”

Judging by Wright’s statement it seems that I’m not the only one excited about this new series, which is set for release some time in 2011.
