If like me you’re a lover of post-apocalyptic B-movies, you should be interested to hear about some new developments in the making of Battle of The Damned, it’s just got its leading man, in the form of Swedish heavy weight Dolph Lungdren. The movie which will see humans, robots AND zombies pitted against each other will go into production in June and judging by the excitement of the filmmakers, who have described the project as an “Escape From New York meets 28 Days Later” it may keep us going until it’s bigger budget cousin Zombies Vs. Robots is released in 2013. One of the films producers Ehud Bleiberg recently had this to say about the project. “It’s going to be so intense and thrilling and it’s never been seen before! Humans versus zombies versus robots. Having Dolph on board just takes it to a whole new level. He brings so much to the table and he’s looking forward to digging into this role.” Hmm If you ask me the robots and zombies don’t stand a chance against Dolph!

NBC has just signed a deal with Warner Bros that will see J.J Abram’s (Lost, Cloverfield) new apocalyptic sci-fi pilot air this fall. It’s still early days so not much is known about the potential new series however the official summary (below) has put Revolution firmly on my radar. “A high octane action drama from J. J. Abrams following a group of characters struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist. In this epic adventure thriller, a family struggles to reunite in a post-apocalyptic American landscape: a world of empty cities, local militias and heroic freedom fighters, where every single piece of technology — computers, planes, cars, phones, even lights — has mysteriously blacked out … forever.” Sounds great right? My only worry is that Revolution may turn into another Lost, I’d be disappointed if it does go down that route and please Mr Abrams NO flashbacks! We’ll keep you updated on any further developments.

Agree with the message they are trying to sell you or not its still an amusing little ad take a look it might just make you smile!

The Hunger Games has been on my radar for quite some time now although I still haven’t gotten around to reading the book, which I’ve been told is excellent, you can check out the reviews if you need any proof of that. However you only need to read the synopsis to see that the movie adaptation has huge potential and judging by the current trailer and its predecessors that potential may have been realised. Summary: Set in a post-apocalyptic future where the authoritarian state “Capitol” chooses a boy and a girl from one of the twelve districts to fight to the death on live television, a young woman volunteers to take her younger sister’s place for the latest match. The movie stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth and is set for release March 23, 2012. The Hunger Games trailer: Join the forum discussion on this post

If I wasn’t already looking forward to watching this tomorrow, I certainly would be now, compared to the earlier trailers which left me interested but unsure, this one has definitely got me pumped ahead of tomorrow’s visit to the cinema. I’m always a bit wary when studios release last minute trailers ahead of a movie’s release, but judging from the early buzz after the advanced screenings in the UK this week, it seems that Chronicle has not only met but exceeded many viewers expectations. And after watching this new trailer I can’t help but feel its predecessors were a very clever marketing ploy; purposefully low key, but I think it’s paid off. Take a look see what you think.
Finally we get a long awaited trailer on the coming French apocalyptic sci-fi horror Dead Shadows The basic plot line is as follows: Dead Shadows tells the terrifying story about a young man, Chris, whose parents were brutally killed 11 years ago, on the same day that the Haley comet could be seen from earth. A new comet is going to appear tonight and everyone were he lives is getting ready for a party to celebrate the event. As the night falls, Chris starts to discover that people are acting strangely – and it seems to be somehow connected to the comet. People are becoming disoriented and violent and it doesn’t take long before they start mutating into something from beyond this world. Now its a fight for survival, Chris has to try to escape from his building with the help from other tenants – but the big question is will they make it out alive? The film seems to tip its hat to many of the apocalyptic films that have gone before it, from the 80′s cult film “Night of the comet” to the more recent “The Signal”, but with that being said it also seems to hold its own unique plot lines. I can only hope that Dead Shadows holds to the production values and feel of other recent French block buster horror films like “La Horde”. The only down side to all of this is that the film producers have not yet set a firm release date. Still this apocalyptic cowboy is interested and wants to see more and suggests you take a look at the trailer too.

There are of course many fan made incarnations littering the web, but we now have the first official teaser poster for Resident Evil: Retribution. And I must say I’m suitably impressed with its post-apocalyptic lushness. I’m not quite sure what city that is laid in ruins? But I could see myself walking down its streets with a bug-out bag and shot gun slung over my shoulder. As an extra treat they’ve also released a banner both of which you can find below. For those not up to speed. You can find more info and the official teaser trailer for the movie (which is more of a theatrical ad for Sony products than a trailer) here: Resident Evil: Retribution Trailer Click on the thumbnails to view the full image.
When I picked Mira Grant’s “FEED” off the shelf at the bookstore, I didn’t have great expectations. This is thanks to the cover blurb, which I can only suppose was trying to capitalize on the success of “I Am Legend” (the movie, not the book). Without resorting to actually looking at the back cover of my copy, I can paraphrase: We cured cancer. We cured the common cold. In their place, we have walking dead things that are trying to eat us. Rise up while you can. Needless to say, it left me feeling somewhat unenthusiastic, but I was looking at my regular two hour commute and it was buy “FEED” or try to survive the horror of public transportation without any help from my favorite recreational drug. So I bought it. And boy, am I glad I did. “Our story opens where countless stories have ended in the last twenty-six years: with an idiot–in this case my brother Shaun–deciding it would be a good idea to go out and poke a zombie with a stick to see what happens. As if we didn’t already know what happens when you mess with a zombie: The zombie turns around and bites you, and you become the thing you poked. This isn’t a surprise. It hasn’t been a surprise for more than twenty years, and if you want to get technical, it wasn’t a surprise then.” In just a few sentences, the opening of “FEED” did what the cover couldn’t: It caught my attention. And for the twenty-some hours it took me to race through its pages, it didn’t let go. “FEED” is quirkily intelligent. In Mira Grant’s world, people name their babies after George Romero because his movies helped save the world by preparing mankind to deal with the Rising of the zombies. In Mira Grant’s world, a journalism license requires serious combat training and bloggers like Shaun and Georgia Mason are serious journalists. “FEED” is impressively detailed. The virus that animates Mira Grant’s zombies is a result of the author’s seemingly obsessive need to research everything to death and its workings are described so minutely, I seriously considered locking my client into his room at night lest he expire and come looking for a tasty snack. (I didn’t. I’m a domestic health care professional, so that would be highly illegal. Also, probably not very nice.) “FEED” is quietly terrifying. The life of ordinary people, those who do not regularly risk their lives by seeking out zombie infested areas for the sake of great journalism, is seen in glimpses and is frighteningly realistic because it doesn’t feel at all far-fetched. Maybe it’s because “FEED” was published not too long after people had stopped carrying disinfectants in their pockets and wearing facemasks in the streets to protect themselves from the lethal-pandemic-that-wasn’t: The swine flu. Maybe it’s the economic climate, which has some of my friends preparing in earnest for the inevitable collapse of western civilization, but those glimpses of people cowering in...

Hold on to your lunch because Z-108 (Zombie 108) is here! Yes its Taiwan’s first mainstream shot at a zombie film. But in great tradition with most Asian films they have to go that little bit further than the norm and with that Z-108 is undoubtedly one of the most depraved zombie films you can find on the planet at the moment, just brimming with sex and gore! The film depicted is an especially brutal zombie outbreak in the city of Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, a nuclear disaster in Japan accidentally alters the genes of an influenza virus. A group of young people who have been infected haven’t paid any attention to their illness, until one of them surprisingly bites a girl’s throat. After this the powers that be take notice and the government orders a quarantine. Meanwhile, the army and the police join to form a team to enter the quarantined zone. In no time, the whole city is awash with zombies. People from all walks of life, including gangsters, policemen and civilians must work together to escape, but in fact they have hidden plans to compete with and even kill each other. So far Z-108 has no firm release date here in the USA or in Europe, but it is planned for this year! So watch out for this newcomer to the Zombie film market it aims to shock! With that in mind I will not post the Official trailer release here as it is somewhat adult but its out there now, so if you have the interest and the stomach just go and look it up! err ok, if you insist!
