DreamWorks hopes for a 2011 release date for ‘Robopocalypse’
Movie News — By Shaun Clarke on December 21, 2009 at 5:39 pmJust over a month ago DreamWorks bought the rights to Daniel Wilson’s post-apocalyptic manuscript Robopocalypse and it’s rumoured their hoping to release the movie at some point in 2011.
Daniel Wilson (see right) who has a PhD in Robotics is no stranger to writing fiction, having previous successes with How to Build a Robot Army and How to Survive a Robot Uprising amongst others. And this won’t be the only work of his to be adapted for the silver screen as Paramount have also acquired the rights to How to Survive a Robot Uprising.
There still isn’t much information about the project, but the main premise of the movie is that it’s set in the aftermath of a robot uprising. Having the obvious advantage of a background in robotics, it’s said the level of realism will set Robopocalypse apart from previous movies like Terminator and iRobot.
I’ll post more information about the movie as soon as more details become available.
