Daniel Craig Neither Shaken nor Stirred About the Star Role in ‘Cowboys and Aliens’ Movie
Well if you’ve been following the developments of the upcoming movie adaptation of the apocalyptic sci-fi comic Cowboys & Aliens (summary below,) you’ll already know that the starring role was previously assigned to Robert Downey Jr. Who only days ago abandoned the movie because of his commitment to the upcoming Sherlock Holmes sequel.
Daniel Craig as James Bond
Well the lead role wasn’t vacant for long before Daniel Craig stepped up to the plate. And although I think Downey Jr would have been perfect for the role, I’m more than happy to see it go to Craig who I think is a perfect fit for any action movie. Plot Summary
Cowboys & Aliens is based on a comic book of the same name which was created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and published in 2006. Set in the 1800s the story is about aliens who invade Earth with the intention of turning humanity into slaves. When they land in the Mid-West the cowboys and Indians forget their differences and band together to defeat the alien invaders.
Movie Details
The writers for the film are Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof (Star Trek, Transformers and Lost) and Jon Favreau (Iron Man) will direct. No definite info on the cast just yet but all being well Daniel Craig should take on the lead role of Zeke Jackson, the gunslinger and leader of the human resistance against the aliens.
Filming is due to begin in July and the movie should be released to theatres in the summer of 2011.
