  • Bio: I've always been a sucker for end-of-the-world stories. I'll give my eschatology-obsessed religious upbringing the credit. But the credit for feeding my addiction with Romero films like so much zombie brains goes solely to me. Since I was a little kid, I also had this weird fascination with imagining myself as the last person on earth. I suppose the easier psychoanalysis would be an introverted bias; a socially awkward kid who shunned groups. But I choose to see myself as character Robert Neville, instead of scrawny Rob Lund, looking for other survivors of the mass plague, who with me will reforge a new society from the ashes of the past. Perhaps my macabre fascination with dystopia is borne out of a fear of ecological collapse. This is certainly a common theme in many apocalyptic films. Whatever the reasons for my curiosity -- man-made toxins, judgments from God, over-industrialization, viral outbreaks -- it's all about the fantasy. Call me glass-half-empty, but I love the fear of the end. So let's watch some movies, huh?
