Apocalyptic Underwater Novel ‘Dark Life’ Optioned by the Gotham Group
The apocalyptic underwater children’s adventure novel Dark Life written by Kat Falls has been optioned by The Gotham Group Production Company.
The book which is aimed at 9-11 year olds, tells the dystopian tale of a future where rising sea levels and natural disasters have forced some of the world’s populations to seek refuge on the ocean floor. The main story centres on a young boy called Ty from an underwater settlement, who together with a girl from the surface must fight to stop outlaws who threaten to destroy the boys underwater home.
Ellen Goldsmith-Vein one of the producers of the project recently said of the story “We fell in love with the idea of an underwater Western,” she also went on to commend the creativity of the book’s author stating that it was a “thoroughly original world.”
The producers whose past credits include The Spiderwick Chronicles are currently seeking a director for the project before presenting to the studios.
