80s Movie Prequel ‘The Thing’ is Still In Pre-Production
As reported by Variety earlier this year, Universal is currently working on a prequel to the 80s Sci-Fi horror movie The Thing. However months later there is still no news on the project, which is currently classified as pre-production. Seen as the project already has its Director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. who is also working on the upcoming movie Army of the Dead and producer Eric Newman who’s working on Invasion, it won’t be long before the project goes into full development. (UPDATE: Filming Begins in March 2010)
Plot Details:
The movie will follow the events that occurred just before the American research facility was terrorized by the shape-shifting alien in the 1982 film. This time the story centres on the Norwegian research station, you may remember them chasing after the dog at the beginning of the movie.
Many fans including myself are hoping this movie will kick start a new franchise, as the conclusion of the 1982 film definitely left scope for further development.
